Tree

A medium sized tree 6 to 15 m height, occurring at low altitude in hot, dry types of woodland.

Timber

The heartwood is dark red with darker purple brown streaks and lighter curly parenchyma bands. weighing 1,150kg's/m3 it is extremely durable and being a busy timber is makes for interesting turning options. Tools need to be sharp and it sands to a fine finish, takes varnish and glues well. Used for turning and carving.
